Doc-Assembler >>

GENERAL IDEA

The tool assists with generating documents with repetitive structure by providing re-usable, user-generated, purpose-specific, pre-formatted content blocks.

Alternatively or additionally, a content distrubtion tool allows to apply a content list to an existing document, acting as template.

The generated document would then be copied into a Word document for further processing (e.g. PDF creation)

FEATURES

  • The tool can run locally, on individual computers, even without Internet connection. Only the advanced editor window below the tool requires to be online.
  • All content is editable inside the text-boxes. For formatting changes, copy the content / block into the advanced editor below the tool and back.
  • All content created can be saved in it's current state individually, under a different name, using the black button on the upper right. This allows to create individual versions of the same processor for different document types. Overwrite existing document tools for updates, choose new names for new document tools.
  • The advanced editor below the tool displays hidden content structures (e.g. tables) and provides more formatting abilties. It may be advisable to copy content blocks from Word document into the advanced editor and then from there into a new content block. Alternatively, the distribution list may be aggregated in the advanced editor, before being copied into the distribution field for processing.

METHOD 1 - Content Blocks

  • Create documents from formatted text block library and move them into document (always(!) added to bottom)
  • Blocks and individual content can be added in alternating order
  • [+] - ADD new block; [x] - DELETE block; [>>] - INSERT block

METHOD 2 - Content Distribution

  • In template document, create placeholders by inserting '~~~' (tripple tildes)
  • Assemble distribution list with content blocks divided by '|||' (tripple pipes)
  • [>>>] - executes distribution; [!!!] - undo of unsatisfactory distribution

ADVANCED EDITOR

  • While all text-boxes allow direct editing, the advanced editor makes content blocks visible, which assists with complex document structures, like tables.
  • Optional: Copy content into the advanced editor first, make adjustments, then copy to target field (content block, distribution list, or template).
